My day-to-day is social media marketing.

For over four years, through three US presidents, two primary elections, and one ongoing pandemic, here's how I've stayed sane:

• Don't follow the news. Listen to people.

• Don't follow politicians. Listen to people.

• Don't have social apps on the phone; laptop only.

• Use social for personal reasons after a "perfect" day. Perfect = daily goals & non-negotiables completed.

• Personal social use is limited to 30 minutes on perfect days.

• I take lunch with my spouse.

• No phones at the dinner table.

• Stay off the home feed; I know what's helpful more than an algorithm.

• No electronics an hour before bed.

• 8 hours of sleep is non-negotiable.

• At least 40 minutes of vigorous or 90 minutes of non-vigorous exercise a day.

• Meditate for at least 20 minutes in the morning.

• I write things down on paper to look up later. 95% of the time, I don't look up what I write down.
