7 Ways to Support the 190 Mile Hiking Project

A few years ago, I’d jump on a bus headed to downtown Cleveland for work at 6:00 AM and return home around 6:30 PM.

In the winter, there were a couple of months when I would see less than 15 minutes of sun each weekday.

This realization hit me in the middle of a workday when I got up and walked to a window. I looked at the street below and saw people hanging out at the entrance on a smoke break.

“Even people who smoke cigarettes get outside more than me,” I thought.

That weekend, the scene in my mind stuck out while I looked out the window of our apartment complex to see a couple of people walking their dogs.

“These people are getting outside,” I thought. I realized their incentive was to get outside because their dog needed it. If a dog needs a 10-minute walk now and again, why would we be any different?

We need to get outside more. That’s why I’m hiking over 190 miles in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and documenting each trail I hike.

Will you please help get the word out?

Goal: To hike and document every trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) by World Wildlife Day on March 3, 2023.

Mission: Create a video playlist for people to see each trail in CVNP.

Why: I’m encouraging people to get outdoors and build relationships in and around CVNP. Being outdoors is a FREE way for folks to add movement, connection to nature, and natural light to their lives which has positive health effects.

Here are seven no-cost ways to support the project:

  1. Watch and like this video
  2. Subscribe to this YouTube channel
  3. Watch the first three hikes here
  4. Forward this email to the first “outdoors” person you think of
  5. Follow this Instagram page for hiking stories
  6. Like this Facebook page for the same
  7. Tell a friend about the hiking project

If you have gotten any value through this blog in the past year, please help me share this hiking project. In the past 18 months, I’ve run two marathons and did a 42-mile hike in 24 hours with my friends Nick and Kevin. Those events were great, but capturing the next 190 in front of me will be my most important project to date.

Thank you for your continued support.

See you out and about,

Louis
