Changes (2 min read)
As a kid, I went from the south side of Youngstown, Ohio, in a predominately black neighborhood to moving away to the countryside and becoming 1 of 3 minorities in my whole school.
After ten years, we moved to the suburbs, where I went to a diverse private school.
I've had the gift of being in multiple communities, cultures, & ways of life.
The patterns in my life come down to change.
Change is life's only constant.
At the center of our solar system, our Sun changes hydrogen into helium. This process is called nuclear fusion & creates light/heat. Among many other things, sunlight dictates our body's circadian rhythm and changes our energy levels in response.
Coming closer to home, over 200 billion cells in your body die each day. New ones replace them. In 7 - 10 years, your body has all new cells than the previous decade.
Neuroplasticity is our brain morphing to incoming information & adjusting neural pathways as a result.
What is the pattern? External and internal change.
Life throws us variety to see how we'll do, & how we adjust dictates who we become.
Nature's great mysteries are the puzzles it presents us with. We should be grateful for these challenges since figuring them out creates meaning for our existence.
Being patient with yourself during change and meeting others at the same place is all we can do in a world full of change.
